Kids Activities & Events this Weekend in Leeds
The summer holidays are here… The kids are off and the sun is out in force! So why not make the most of it and kick off the break with some family friendly events in and around the city! Leeds seems to be bustling with new activities and events, so we thought we’d highlight a few things that are going on this weekend:
Leeds Jurassic Trail – Leeds City Centre – 27 July – 1 September
Starting this weekend, but running for most of the summer, Leeds City Centre will be overrun by dinosaurs! There’ll be full-sized dinosaurs along the Jurassic Trail and it’s your job to track them down. The trail takes you through Victoria Leeds, Leeds Kirkgate Market, The Merrion Centre and Trinity Leeds, and you can pick up a trail map from any of those stops.
Time Capsule Workshop – The Tetley – 28 July
As part of the Tetley’s ongoing Child Friendly Sundays, this weekend they’re running one of their Family Art Workshops. You’ll be creating stories and drawings to go in your very own time capsule. Running from 11:00 until 15:00, it’s a free event, so there’s really no reason to not check it out.
Professor Humboldt’s Chamber of Time – Merrion Centre – 13 July – 1 September
With the Jurassic Trail leading you right to the door of the Chamber of Time, it makes the perfect addition to your action packed day. Open from 10:00am until 5:30pm daily, the Chamber of Time will take you on a magical journey through 5,000 years of British history. With live actors, interactivity and incredible sets, the kids will be fully immersed in history.
Kidz (Free) Film Club – Kirkgate Market – 27 July
Running at the Event Space in Kirkgate Market, the free Kidz Film Club is on the last Saturday of every month. This month they’re showing the classic version of the Lion King, providing you with the perfect opportunity to revisit it before seeing the big screen reboot! The movie starts at 11am, so make sure you’re there in time to get a seat.
Create:Sculpt:Play – Victoria Gardens – 20 July – 4 August
Taking over the space right outside Leeds Art Gallery, Create : Sculpt : Play will transform Victoria Gardens, re-imagining the space with a focus on sculpture. There’ll be a whole host of free family friendly and fun activities. Open daily from 10am-4pm, if you’re in the city centre, it will be well worth checking out. The video below shows the event they ran last year:
